As of August 1, 2023, Brazil will also become part of the Digital Access Service for Priority Documents (DAS) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as an “accessing office” for industrial designs. Consequently, the Brazilian PTO (INPI) will start accepting the WIPO-DAS code as a means to access official priority documents related to industrial design applications.

When applying for registration, the applicant must provide the number of the priority document, as well as the corresponding DAS code. Priority documents should include the identification number, the filing date, and drawings representing the claimed design. If not submitted with the filing, the applicant will have a period of 90 days, counted from the filing date, to submit such data or a copy of the priority document.
