Raid action against trademark infringement. On November 5, Daniel’s Anticounterfeiting Team, together with the Federal Revenue Repressive Unit, organized the first raid action conducted in the City of Imperatriz, State of Maranhão. The city is a strategic route for counterfeiters and smugglers of the north and northeast region of Brazil. The raid action named Fanzui, refers to “Crime” in Chinese and this is a clear message from the Federal Unit that the City of Imperatriz will not tolerate the traffic and distribution of illegally imported goods. As a result, a total of R$1.28 million of counterfeit and illegal goods were seized. The Task Force Operation was planned based on intelligence from Daniel’s team and executed by the Federal Revenue, Federal Highway Police, and State Police Department of Maranhão. Our criminal team trained the local authorities last year as part of the National Anticounterfeiting Training Program.
Unauthorized trademark use: We seized thousands of tons of counterfeit products on behalf of various global technology and gaming companies that collectively participated in the raid.
Latest development: The Federal Revenue will stay in charge of the administrative procedure until we have a final decision from the Criminal Judge requesting the destruction of those items.
