{"id":53496,"date":"2021-02-21T19:01:52","date_gmt":"2021-02-21T22:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.daniel-ip.com\/?p=53496"},"modified":"2022-07-11T15:36:11","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T18:36:11","slug":"the-permanent-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.daniel-ip.com\/en\/articles\/the-permanent-war\/","title":{"rendered":"The Permanent War"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWhoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted (\u201cThe Art of War\u201d, Sun Tzu). <a href=\"http:\/\/changingminds.org\/disciplines\/warfare\/art_war\/sun_tzu_6-1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sun Tzu or General SunTzu was a Chinese General well-known by his lessons about war and related strategies which concepts fit perfectly for business and, more particularly, for marketing strategies.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/ancient-china\/the-art-of-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, historians don\u2019t know the exact date of his book publication; in fact, they are not totally sure whether a real person with that name really existed or if that book \u201cis a compilation of generations of Chinese theories and teachings on military strategy\u201d.<br \/>\nEither as a \u201cone-man theory\u201d or being a compilation of thoughts from various people along the time, that lesson couldn\u2019t be more appropriate in the present days in which Covid-19 inhibits the \u201cnormal\u201d course of actions in business.<br \/>\nThe number of patent applications filed is a reliable indicator of the innovation activity in its various aspects, such as a number of citations by other patents, quality of inventions etc. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/277683806_Patent_Statistics_as_an_Innovation_Indicator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[iii]<\/a><sup>,<\/sup> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.berkeley.edu\/files\/Song_Hefa_IPSC_paper_2014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref2\">[iv]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While the number of patents filed is not a guarantee of winning a battle at the forefront of the technology of many industry sectors, lacking patents is certainty of defeat.<br \/>\nAs per the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) data <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/edocs\/pubdocs\/en\/wipo_pub_941_2019-chapter1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[v]<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/publications\/en\/details.jsp?id=4487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref2\">[vi]<\/a>, exception being made to 2009, when the world plunged in unprecedent crisis, year by year there is an increase in the number of patent applications filed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/publications\/en\/details.jsp?id=4464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[vii]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 (as per report released late 2019)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/publications\/en\/details.jsp?id=4487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" name=\"_ednref1\">[viii]<\/a>\u00a0WIPO accounted for more than 3.3 mio of patent applications filed worldwide, with an increase of 5.2% over 2017.<br \/>\nThus, it is easy to anticipate that those who keep the filing activity stable or even increase it, will be in clear advantage with regards to competitors.<br \/>\nWe are sensible that in present days it may not be so easy to handle business-as-usual activities.<br \/>\nIf you are feeling there are limitations blocking your filings, we at Daniel can help you to overcome such hurdles.<br \/>\nOur legally wise approach will help you to succeed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWhoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted (\u201cThe Art of War\u201d, Sun Tzu).
