Patent Specialist

Samantha has been working with Intellectual Property since 2010 and joined Daniel Legal & IP Strategy as a patent specialist in 2015. Her expertise covers all aspects related to the prosecution of patent applications at the Brazilian PTO and the National Agency for Sanitary Surveillance (ANVISA), with particular emphasis on patent applications in the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical field.

Samantha acts in the preparation of reports and compliance/contestation of technical opinions issued by the Brazilian PTO and ANVISA, subsidies to the technical examination, prior art searches, FTO’s, equivalent searches for BR applications, drafting patent applications, and in the preparation of technical opinions to support case laws. She has full knowledge of the normative instructions, examination guidelines, Brazilian IP law and the main intellectual property treaties.

Graduated in Intellectual Property Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro - PUC-Rio, 2016, with the dissertation “Selection invention: a comparative study encompassing concepts, patentability criteria and case law on this theme”. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) in 2012, with the dissertation “Trend analysis to improve delayed coking units”.
